Success Story – U.S. Department of Agriculture

USDA OCIO Client Experience Center (CEC) provides enterprise technology solutions and services to USDA agencies that support mission areas such as Food Safety, Rural Development, and Farm Production and Conservation.

  • To support USDA’s initiative of being a data-driven agency, we assessed and analyzed the existing data and reporting architecture, gathered requirements from branch chiefs and division directors, recommended the course of action, set up the business intelligence/analytics environment, and created dashboards and reports for the CEC senior leadership team.

At the completion of the contract work, users could access reports and dashboards in one central location, analyze the data, easily find answers by typing in a question powered by the BI tool’s natural query language engine, share reports and dashboards among peers, and access data from various sources. This resulted in improved productivity, increased efficiency, and better decision making to support the agency mission.

  • To support the program management branch’s project management oversight, we created a weekly project status report of all investment and major projects.

This report solution enabled the senior leadership team to view critical project status at any time and from anywhere. It saved project managers tremendous time by automating the report creation.
